The Bloody Maria is the tequila version of the classic Bloody Mary cocktail. Spicy and refreshing, it’s a great addition to any brunch menu!

Bloody Maria Cocktail
The Bloody Maria is a savory tequila cocktail with a spicy kick. It’s the perfect brunch cocktail for tequila lovers! And just like a Bloody Mary, the Bloody Maria is said to be a great hangover cure.
What’s the difference between a Bloody Mary and a Bloody Maria?
The Bloody Mary cocktail is a blend of vodka, tomato juice, lemon juice, hot sauce, and seasonings. It is perhaps known for the garnishes – the classic Bloody Mary served with olives and celery, but there are lots of creative recipes with everything from bacon to hamburger sliders on top!
The Bloody Maria is pretty much the same exact cocktail as the Bloody Mary, with one key difference. Whereas the Bloody Mary is made with vodka, the Bloody Maria is made with tequila instead. The name Maria is the Spanish name for Mary, which makes it pretty easy to see where the drink name came from.
We also added a special touch to our Bloody Maria by coating the rim of the glass with celery salt and paprika, for a little kick!

- 2 oz. tequila
- 4 oz. tomato juice

Prep Tips
- Tequila – You can use any type of tequila that you like in this recipe, though I do recommend using a good quality tequila for the best taste. You can use tequila blanco or silver tequila, or you could use a reposado or añejo tequila (aged tequila) for a richer flavor.
- Make It Spicy – For a spicier drink, you can rim the glass with celery salt and chili pepper. You could also add a splash of your favorite Mexican-style hot sauce or garnish with a jalapeño pepper.
