Limoncello Margaritas

A limoncello margarita is a tart twist on the classic margarita cocktail. It is made with tequila, lime juice, and limoncello, an Italian lemon liqueur. The limoncello brings a zesty lemon flavor to the cocktail, as well as the bright yellow color.

Like a regular margarita, you can make it on the rocks. However, the bold citrus notes lend themselves perfectly to making a frozen cocktail. Just imagine a frozen lemonade…with a kick!

I’ve seen this drink pop up on the menu at trendy restaurants, but it is also one of the more popular drinks at Disney’s EPCOT. This recipe is loosely based on Disney’s Frozen Italian Margarita that you can get at the EPCOT park.

What is Limoncello?

Limoncello is an Italian lemon liqueur that is made by steeping lemon zest in a neutral spirit, such as vodka. The name “limoncello” comes from the Italian words “limone,” which means “lemon,” and “chello,” which means “little.”

Limoncello has a strong lemon color, golden color, and is typically served chilled, either neat or over ice. It can also be used as a mixer in cocktails or desserts.
