Woo Woo Shots

A “woo woo” is a sweet and fruity drink made with vodka, peach schnapps, and cranberry juice. In my bartending days, I only saw it ordered as a shot, but you could make this as a cocktail too. If you like a Cape Cod cocktail, you’ll love the Woo Woo!

I remember the woo woo being one of the most popular shots that people would order. It’s easy to make, easy to drink, can be made cheaply if using well vodka, and the name is easy to remember. No wonder it’s always a crowd-pleaser!

The woo woo cocktail is a relatively new drink, having been invented in the early 1990s. It is believed to have originated in the United States, and it quickly became popular in bars and clubs across the country. This sweet, fruity drink is sure to get anyone in the mood to parrrtayyy!!

Where Does The Name “Woo Woo” Come From?

The origin of the name “Woo Woo” for the cocktail is unknown. However, there are a few theories:

  1. One idea is that the name “woo woo” is based on the sound you get when shaking the drink with ice in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Another theory is that the name comes from the way this drink makes people feel: happy and carefree.
  3. Some also believe that the name comes from the fact that a Woo Woo is usually served as a shot, and when people take a shot they often make a “WOO!!!” sound or yell.

Prep Tips

  • Take care not to over-shake the drink, as it may water it down. Chilling the ingredients beforehand can reduce the amount of shaking needed.
  • Either cranberry juice or cranberry cocktail can be used here. 100% cranberry juice is much more tart, but the peach schnapps is very sweet and can balance it out. Real cranberry juice is a good option if you don’t want an overly sweet drink.
