A classic sweet cocktail, turned into an icy slushy, the Frozen Midori Sour is fun for summer occasions or anytime you want to serve a unique drink.

Frozen Midori Sour
If you love sweet frozen drinks, then you will love this frozen Midori sour! Combine the tang from the melon liqueur and the combination of lemon-lime soda and sweet and sour to make a truly tasty cocktail. It’s bright green, so it’s super eye-catching! However, the flavor is mild and sweet, like the melon that inspires this drink!
This is the frozen version of a classic Midori sour cocktail, usually served on the rocks. The only modification we made was to omit soda (some recipes for a Midori sour call for a splash of soda). As you can imagine, soda doesn’t fare well in a blender!

A frozen Midori sour makes a fun drink for pool parties or summer occasions. However, it also surprisingly pairs well with some foods. I’ve worked at a few different sushi restaurants in my college days and Midori was always a staple on the drink menu!
What is Midori?
Midori is a melon-flavored Japanese liqueur, known for its vibrant green color. Specifically, Midori is supposed to taste like honeydew melon, a light green melon known for its mild, sweet flavor.
Midori is considered high-end for liqueurs, so you can substitute with another brand of green melon liqueur if you like.

Ingredients
- 1 ounce Vodka
- 2 ounces Midori Melon Liqueur (or similar green melon liqueur)
- 5 ounces Sweet & Sour
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- Ice
Note: Ingredient amounts are for 1 serving. If making for a crowd, multiply ingredient amounts by the number of people you’ll be serving.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can You Make This Drink Without Vodka?
A Midori sour can be made with or without vodka, depending on your preference and whether you want a strong drink, or a sweeter drink. We made this recipe with vodka, but you can omit this stronger spirit and just stick with Midori if you’d rather.
If skipping the vodka, I would recommend adding a little more Midori AND a little more sour mix to make up for the liquid.
What Type of Sweet and Sour Should I Use?
If you’ve ever shopped for sweet and sour or sour mix, you might have seen both powder and liquid options. You can start with either — the liquid sour mix is simply ready to go and add directly to the drink. Powder will need to be mixed with water to create sweet and sour, then added to the drink.
